Dogs and why I should never have gotten one…
Ok, so don’t get me wrong, I love my dog! He’s sweet as can be and a great pet, but he won’t stop peeing EVERYWHERE. When I got little Astro from his previous owners they warned me of this, heck peeing was the ENTIRE reason that they couldn’t keep him anymore. I thought surely they were wrong and this sweet little dog would learn that peeing was for OUTSIDE.
It’s been about a month and I’ve decided that they were totally right. I thought surely once he was fixed his need to pee would lessen, he wouldn’t feel as if he needed to “MARK” everything. I was informed that he was crate trained, yeah, not so much. He not only pees on the kitchen floor and the carpet, he pees in his crate too.
Astro is about a year old, not quite adult, but definitely not a puppy and I don’t know what else to do. How do you train a dog to go on a pee pad? I feel horrible leaving him locked up in a crate all day, but my other choice is to let him roam the apartment and considering he likes to pee freely that is not an option.
How trained is your dog? What helped you? Any tips would be appreciated? Am I just a HORRIBLE dog mom?
